No, and that is the whole point. Tapping works on iPhone XR and newer and on nearly every Android made in the last few years. The QR code is printed on the front as well, so if a tap does not land, a camera always will.

Review Plates ship within five business days. Custom Plates take about 48 hours for your proof, then five to six weeks to make and deliver, because they are printed to order. Shipping is free on orders of five plates or more, and $8.50 under that. If you need something for a date, tell us before you order.
Not at checkout. You place the order, we confirm it and email you a Stripe link. On a Custom Plate that link only comes after you have approved the design proof, so you never pay for artwork you have not seen.
Yes, on anything flat and clean: timber, laminate, painted metal, glass, a menu stand, the side of a coffee machine. Avoid bare metal directly behind the chip if you can, since metal is the one thing that interferes with NFC.
